Thanksgiving Food: What Can You Feed To Your Dog?

Thanksgiving is coming up soon! Sharing part of the food on the table with your dog is unavoidable. But are all meals suitable for young dogs to consume healthy? If you are not careful as a pet owner, poisoning, upset stomachs, vomiting, and diarrhea could happen. Just be careful what you give them. You may always include your pet in the Thanksgiving festivities. This Thanksgiving, you can enjoy the following foods with your dog!

Sweet Potato

In addition to being delicious, sweet potatoes are also nutritious. They are a nutritious food that is high in vitamins B6, C, and A and low in fat. Additionally, sweet potatoes have a lot of fiber, which promotes the healing of the colon and prevents bacterial overgrowth. Always cook sweet potatoes before serving because dogs have a hard time digesting them raw. These should be prepared separately, preferably without the addition of butter, garlic, sour cream, bacon, marshmallows, brown sugar, or any other flavorings. Just peeling, cutting, and roasting a sweet potato will yield a wholesome treat for your dog. As with many other fruits and vegetables, your dog should only receive this as treats and not as part of a regular diet.

Even if something is good for you, you should never eat too much of it because this could cause an allergy or intolerance.

Pumpkin

Another traditional Thanksgiving item that your dog can eat is pumpkins. Iron, potassium, fiber, vitamins A and C, and potassium are all present. For dogs, pure pumpkin is best. Cooked and mashed pumpkin, without additional salt, can help dogs with constipation and diarrhea, as well as with digestive issues, anal gland issues, and other health issues. Make sure the pumpkin in the canned food you give your pet is pure pumpkin and not pre-seasoned pie mix.

Turkey

As long as it isn’t seasoned, turkey is a great Thanksgiving meal for your dog. When prepared with spices, oil, and butter, it might result in pancreatitis as well as other issues. Make sure they just receive turkey meat and remove all other components. Large quantities of garlic and onions are toxic to dogs and cause digestive issues. The turkey’s skin should be removed. The skin of the bird is regarded as the least healthy portion, even for humans, because it has the highest fat and is frequently seasoned. Make sure you only give them small quantities to eat!

Apples

Apples are a good source of fiber and vitamins A and C. Apple pie can be mashed or chopped up for your dog if you save a few slices. Just be sure to peel the apple and remove the seeds since apple seeds can be fatal.

Green Beans

For your dog, green beans are a great source of vitamins and minerals. Green beans can be consumed fresh, cooked, frozen, tinned, or uncooked. Just make sure they are unflavored and free of any ingredients. On Thanksgiving, you can put green beans on your dog’s dish, but you shouldn’t give him green bean casserole. Casseroles typically include harmful ingredients for dogs in addition to the fat, such as onions and garlic.
